Intuit is addressing the gap between traditional accounting education and the evolving requirements of the industry, where AI is increasingly automating routine financial tasks. David Zasada, vice president of education and corporate engagement at Intuit, noted that firms are currently forced to retrain new hires, while student interest in the field has declined due to concerns over AI-driven job displacement.
To counter this, Intuit launched the Accounting Futures program, a free curriculum created in collaboration with educators and practitioners. The program integrates AI fluency modules with training in communication, problem-solving, and professional judgment. These skills are intended to prepare graduates for client-facing advisory roles, which are becoming a central value driver for accounting firms.
The curriculum utilizes QuickBooks case studies based on real-world scenarios and offers paid micro-internships that can last as little as 10 hours. Additionally, the company introduced Intuit Industry Advisors to further strengthen its ties with the profession. This initiative aims to ensure that new hires are capable of delivering client advisory services immediately upon starting their careers.
