Intel has reversed its decision to archive the One Mono open-source font project. The GitHub repository, which was briefly archived earlier this week as part of a broader initiative to wind down inactive open-source projects, has been restored and may continue to receive maintenance.

Launched in 2023, Intel One Mono is a monospaced font developed in collaboration with Frere-Jones Type and VMLY&R. The design process involved testing with developers who have low vision or legal blindness to improve character legibility and reduce coding errors.

The font features distinct designs for easily confused characters, such as the lowercase 'e' and uppercase 'G', and utilizes extended ascenders and descenders to enhance readability. It supports over 200 Latin-based languages and offers four weights with matching italics.

While the project has seen no major updates since 2024 and only minor documentation changes in 2025, its restoration signals that Intel has not abandoned the tool. The font remains available under an open-source license for free use and modification.
