Instagram has introduced an AI video assistant for its Edits application, designed to function as a conversational chatbot. The tool provides creators with personalized feedback based on account performance metrics, including follower growth, video views, retention rates, likes, and shares.

According to Brett Westervelt, head of the Edits app, the assistant identifies performance patterns and suggests actionable insights by analyzing audience interests and current platform trends. The development process involved direct collaboration with a group of creators who requested analytical support rather than automated content creation.

Meta initially previewed the assistant during an invite-only event in June. While the tool is available to users, access is subject to usage limits, which can be expanded through a Meta One subscription. This release follows Meta's ongoing development of a desktop version for the Edits platform.

The competitive landscape for creator tools is expanding, as YouTube recently announced its own conversational video editing assistant scheduled for release early next year. Unlike YouTube's focus on the editing process, Meta's approach emphasizes data-driven analytics for content strategy.
