Instagram has introduced an AI-powered video editing assistant for its Edits application. The tool functions as a conversational assistant designed to provide creators with personalized feedback based on their account performance.
The assistant analyzes specific metrics, including follower counts, video views, retention rates, likes, and shares. It also incorporates data from user comments, current platform trends, and audience interests to identify performance patterns.
According to Brett Westervelt, head of the Edits app, the tool focuses on data analysis rather than performing creative tasks. The development process involved collaboration with a group of creators to ensure the assistant provides actionable insights.
Meta first previewed the assistant at an invite-only event in June. While the tool is available to users, there are usage limits, which can be extended through a Meta One subscription. The company is also developing a desktop version of Edits.
