Independent developer Rado Klasa has accused Golden Horn Studios of plagiarizing his game, 1,000,000 Potatoes. Klasa claims that the studio's upcoming title, Potato Please, copies his work, which features a first-person potato-peeling mechanic set in a Soviet-style environment with horror elements.
Klasa first introduced his project in July following the GMTK game jam. He argues that the similarities in the trailer for Potato Please suggest intellectual property theft. Some Steam curators have already labeled the studio's game as an AI-generated copy, and users have noted that the studio's social media accounts were created only two months ago.
Golden Horn Studios denies the allegations, stating they were unaware of Klasa's project. The studio claims their game was inspired by internet memes and videos. They maintain that they invested significant time in development and are willing to share project files to prove their work is original.
Despite the studio's defense, players remain skeptical, pointing out that they cannot locate the specific memes mentioned by the developers. Furthermore, the studio has yet to provide any development logs or test builds to verify their claims. The dispute remains unresolved, with no independent confirmation regarding the use of AI or copyright infringement.
