Huawei has introduced its new Star Track positioning technology, designed to improve navigation accuracy in challenging environments such as tunnels, parking garages, and sports venues. The technology utilizes HiSilicon short-range chips and GNSS carrier phase measurement to increase ranging accuracy by more than 10 times, enabling sub-meter positioning for lane-level navigation.
For tunnel navigation, the system combines AI-based speed estimation with geomagnetic matching to achieve lane-level accuracy regardless of tunnel length. In sports, the Huawei WATCH GT Runner 2 features a 3D floating antenna design, which increases GNSS signal strength by 5.4dB compared to the previous generation. For skiing, the technology improves trajectory precision by 5 times and dynamic tracking by 2 times, with a distance accuracy of 98%.
The technology also addresses indoor navigation and parking. It uses 3D road network matching to locate vehicles in parking garages with over 95% floor accuracy and positioning precision under 10 meters. The Huawei Mate 90 series, equipped with the Precise Car Search 2.0 feature, offers a 50% improvement in parking location accuracy over the Mate 80 and covers more than 30,000 parking garages.
Huawei has expanded its location-based services to include 500,000 commercial fences and 17,000 indoor buildings. The Petal Maps application currently supports store-level navigation in over 260 shopping malls, with plans to add more than 200 malls each month. Additionally, the company's wrist-based ski map service covers over 3,000 ski resorts with a 97% trail matching accuracy.
