Huawei plans a major transformation of its AI model training infrastructure by 2027. Rotating Chairman Eric Xu announced the initiative at the Huawei Connect 2026 event, emphasizing the increasing adoption of the company's proprietary Ascend processors within the Chinese market.
The company intends to release three new generations of Ascend accelerators over the next three years. These upcoming chips are expected to deliver approximately double the performance and improved energy efficiency compared to current solutions, aiming to support local AI developers.
Despite the focus on domestic growth, Huawei is currently testing international shipments of its SuperPoD systems by sending small batches to regions with high demand. However, the company has no immediate plans for full-scale global expansion due to limited production capacity.
