Huawei has launched the Mate XT 2, a tri-fold smartphone featuring the new Kirin 9050 Pro chipset. The device, which starts at ¥19 999, utilizes a dual-layer logic circuit design to increase transistor density and achieve a 3.1GHz peak frequency for performance cores.
The Kirin 9050 Pro is a 9-core, 16-thread processor. It features a quad-cluster architecture with a dedicated L2 cache for the ultra-large core and 12MB of SLC cache. Compared to the previous Kirin 9030 Pro, power consumption at the same frequency is reduced by over 30%.
In performance benchmarks, the chipset achieved 1813 points in single-core and 8159 points in multi-core tests on GeekBench 7. The integrated Maliang 955 GPU delivers a 40% performance increase in 3DMark Steel Nomad Light, while the NPU provides 67.7TFLOPS of INT8 computing power.
Gaming tests indicate that the Mate XT 2 performs similarly to devices equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Huawei notes that the Mate XT 2's tri-fold form factor limits thermal dissipation, suggesting that future flagship models in the Mate 90 series may fully unlock the chip's potential.
