Huawei has introduced the Ruiying Z10, an external zoom lens designed for its Mate 90 Pro Max and Mate 90 RS smartphones. Unlike standard teleconverters, the Z10 features its own 1-inch 50-megapixel RYYB image sensor, effectively upgrading the phone's camera hardware upon attachment. The device offers a focal length range of 24-240mm and a variable aperture of f/2.0-f/4.5.
The lens attaches directly to the phone via a dedicated screw-mount located around the camera island. Weighing 346g, the Z10 is designed to be more portable than traditional mirrorless cameras. It relies on the smartphone for power, image processing, and software functionality, as it lacks internal storage or independent computing components.
The compatible Mate 90 Pro Max and Mate 90 RS models feature a 6.9-inch OLED display with a peak brightness of 12,000 nits and run on the Kirin 9050 Pro chip. These devices are equipped with a 6,800mAh battery and a primary camera system that includes a 50-megapixel main sensor with variable aperture, a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, and a 40-megapixel ultrawide camera.
