Huawei has released the HarmonyOS 7.0.0.508 update for its FreeClip 2 open-ear headphones. The firmware addresses several connectivity issues, including audio output errors when switching between a Windows PC and a smartphone during calls, and intermittent single-ear silence when answering calls on Android devices.
The update also fixes playback stuttering that occurred when the headphones were connected to both a mobile device and specific Windows laptop models. These improvements aim to stabilize the multi-device user experience for owners of the FreeClip 2.
The FreeClip 2 features a third-generation low-power chip with an integrated NPU, which reportedly provides a 10-fold increase in computing power. The device supports the Harmony AI assistant, enabling features like head-tracking notifications, smart broadcasting, and real-time translation.
Hardware specifications include a 10.8mm dual-diaphragm driver, a 60mAh battery for 9 hours of playback, and a 537mAh charging case extending battery life to 38 hours. The headphones are built with liquid silicone and memory metal, weigh 5.1g each, and carry an IP57 rating.
