Huawei has officially launched a beta testing program for HarmonyOS 7 on the WATCH GT Runner 2 smartwatch. Users can apply for the update through the My Huawei app or the dedicated WeChat mini-program.

The update introduces visual enhancements, including new light and shadow effects for watch faces and task lists. Users can now customize watch faces with components like pet weather and interactive elements, alongside a new geometric cube design.

Health and fitness features have been expanded. The update adds a micro-exercise function, nap tracking, and a revamped Health Clover app that now includes dietary tracking. Additionally, the weather app provides more detailed data, such as hourly UV intensity and perceived temperature.

For cycling enthusiasts, the watch now supports connections to advanced power meters and smart trainers. Other improvements include a phone battery notification toggle for paired devices running HarmonyOS 6 or higher, and refined golf tracking logic.
