The crypto exchange HTX has reached a settlement with the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to cease unlawful marketing activities in the country. Under the agreement, the company committed to stopping all promotional efforts directed at UK consumers until October 21, 2031.
Huobi Global S.A., the parent company of HTX, provided this undertaking to the High Court. The firm has already implemented restrictions in the region, including blocking new account registrations and preventing deposits from UK users. The company did not admit to any wrongdoing as part of the settlement.
The FCA initiated the legal action in October 2025, marking the agency's first enforcement case against a cryptocurrency firm regarding illegal marketing practices. The settlement agreement was finalized on October 16, 2026, and officially recorded in a court order this week.
HTX has previously faced other regulatory challenges in the region. On May 26, 2026, the UK imposed an asset freeze on Huobi Global S.A. due to alleged support for the Russian government. Additionally, the European Union introduced a transaction ban on the platform on July 23, 2026, which became effective on August 23.
