A tech enthusiast known as Tsuto has assembled a functional home lab server and restored a gaming laptop using components salvaged from weekly visits to a landfill. The scavenger notes that despite the age of some parts, many remain relevant for current computing needs, including components like RTX 3060 graphics cards and DDR4 memory modules.

The recovered Asus ROG laptop required only a $25 battery replacement to become operational. The device features an Intel Core i7-4710HQ processor, 16GB of RAM, and a GeForce GTX 860M 2GB GPU. It is currently being used for casual gaming, specifically for titles such as Stumble Guys.

The custom Proxmox server built from salvaged parts includes two mirrored 256GB SSDs for the operating system, one 1TB SSD for storage, and three 2TB HDDs configured in RAID1 for ZFS storage. To complete the server build, the user purchased a Core i7-7700 processor and 64GB of RAM via Amazon.
