HIVE Digital Technologies is expanding its data center in Yguazú, Paraguay, by adding 100 MW of capacity. This third phase of development, expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2026, will bring the total power capacity of the site to 400 MW. All energy is sourced from the Itaipú Dam.

The company acquired the Yguazú facility from Bitfarms in January 2025. Since the acquisition, HIVE has invested over $400 million in its Paraguayan operations, with $130 million allocated specifically to construction costs. The site currently produces approximately 8.5 BTC per day.

The expansion is part of a broader strategy to increase HIVE's global Bitcoin mining capacity to 35 EH/s by the end of 2026, compared to 22 EH/s in October 2025. The company also plans to build a dedicated AI factory powered by a new 100 MW substation, with an expected launch in the second half of 2027.

HIVE aims to scale its high-performance computing and AI capabilities fivefold. The company utilizes demand response programs to modulate power usage, which management claims supports grid stability in Paraguay.
