Hello Robot launched the Stretch 4 home-assistance robot in May 2026. The device features a compact wheeled design with a single telescoping arm, sensors, and perception systems for navigating human environments. The robot is intended to assist individuals with severe mobility impairments with daily tasks, such as eating, drinking, or manipulating household objects.
The Stretch 4 model incorporates six years of customer feedback and includes an open-source software platform for developers and researchers. Unlike many industry competitors focusing on humanoid forms, Hello Robot prioritizes practical utility in spaces shared by people and machines. The first production run of the new model sold out by June 2026.
Company co-founder Aaron Edsinger previously established Meka Robotics and Redwood Robotics, both acquired by Google in 2013. During his tenure at Google, he served as robotics director, overseeing product and technical development. His background spans mechanical design, software architecture, and human-robot interaction.
The robot will be demonstrated live at the TechCrunch Disrupt 2026 conference, scheduled for October 13–15 at Moscone West in San Francisco. The event expects over 10,000 attendees, including investors and founders, with more than 200 sessions and 300 exhibiting startups.
