Harness Inc. has acquired select assets from Augment Code Computing Inc., including the company's team. The deal integrates Augment Code's AI development platform, Cosmos, into the Harness ecosystem.

Cosmos will be rebranded as Harness Cosmos Software Factory. The tool allows developers to use natural language prompts to coordinate AI agents for generating and maintaining code at scale.

The acquisition also includes the Auggie command-line interface and the Code Context Engine. These technologies will be combined with Harness's existing AI agents for security testing, runtime protection, and cost management.

The integration aims to create an end-to-end experience that automates the software lifecycle from initial idea to final deployment. Customers will retain the option to use their existing coding tools alongside the new platform.

According to Harness CEO Jyoti Bansal, the combined platform allows code assistance, generation, and maintenance to share context. This ensures that security and testing processes are integrated directly into the development workflow.
