Huawei has unveiled the Ultra Storage and Ultra Memory technologies, which are integrated into HarmonyOS 7 via the updated Ark Engine. These tools aim to improve memory efficiency and extend the operational lifespan of older smartphone models.
The Hyperspace Memory feature optimizes RAM compression and manages background applications. According to the company, this update covers over 60 device models. On smartphones equipped with 16 GB of RAM, the system can free up to 3 GB of additional memory.
The Hyperspace Storage technology identifies duplicate files across different applications and stores only a single copy. Additionally, the system analyzes user behavior to compress rarely used apps by functional blocks, decompressing only the necessary parts upon launch to reduce latency.
