YouTubers from the channels Warped and Bikes and Beards have modified a Harley-Davidson motorcycle by replacing its internal combustion engine with two micro-turbines. The project involved removing the original engine, transmission, and drivetrain entirely.
Each turbine generates approximately 70–75 pounds of thrust, resulting in a combined output of roughly 150 pounds. The turbines are mounted near the rear wheel and operate without a gearbox or a direct mechanical connection to the wheel.
The conversion process required over 400 hours of labor. The builder fabricated custom mounts, covers, and a fuel system while integrating the original motorcycle switchgear and displays with new electronic controls for the turbines.
Safety features include containment shields for the engines and a manual fuel cutoff system. The modified motorcycle has an estimated weight of 350 pounds, or approximately 159 kilograms.
During testing, the team successfully reached a speed of 60 mph, which is 97 km/h. The operators noted that the bike maintained additional power reserves beyond this speed.
