Construction of the second phase of the Hainan commercial spaceport is nearly complete. The facility now includes two additional launch pads, bringing the total to four. Systems are currently undergoing integrated testing to prepare for full operational capacity.

Once the second phase is fully commissioned, the spaceport will be capable of conducting over 60 launches annually. This infrastructure is designed to support the rapid growth of China's commercial space sector, which requires more specialized sites for regular launches.

The spaceport, located in Wenchang, is China's first site dedicated to commercial space missions. The first phase began in July 2022, with the first universal launch pad for liquid-propellant rockets completed by June 2024. The maiden launch of the Long March-12 rocket occurred on November 30, 2024.

Work on the second phase officially commenced on January 25, 2025. Although the project was initially scheduled to take approximately 730 days, the primary construction was finished ahead of schedule by October 2026. The expansion includes fueling systems, satellite and rocket manufacturing plants, and ground control stations.
