The second phase of the Hainan Commercial Spacecraft Launch Site has reached completion, marking a significant milestone for the facility. The project, located in Wenchang, Hainan, is now entering the full-system joint training phase. The site is operated by Hainan International Commercial Aerospace Launch Co., Ltd.

Construction of the second phase officially began on January 25, 2025, with a planned duration of approximately 730 days. The expansion covers an area of over 1,100 mu and includes the addition of two new launch pads, designated as the third and fourth launch stations. The infrastructure also features fueling storage areas, rocket and satellite assembly plants, and telemetry and control stations.

The first phase of the launch site began construction on July 6, 2022. By June 2024, the facility completed China's first liquid-propellant universal launch pad. A successful maiden launch of the Long March 12 rocket occurred on November 30, 2024, followed by the achievement of dual-pad launch capabilities in March 2025.

Once the second phase is fully operational, the facility will significantly increase its throughput. The annual launch capacity of the entire spaceport is expected to rise to more than 60 launches per year, strengthening the commercial space infrastructure in the region.
