The Solana-based DePIN network Grass has introduced its Contents API, a tool designed to provide real-time web data to AI agents. This launch on October 8, 2026, signals a strategic shift for the company, which previously focused on supplying batch training data for AI models.
The new API converts public URLs into structured formats like HTML, Markdown, or plain text. By routing requests through residential internet connections, the network bypasses blocks often applied to data centers. In tests on difficult domains, the API achieved a 98% success rate, compared to 71% for its closest competitor.
CEO Andrej Radonjic announced a roadmap on September 28, 2026, prioritizing live context retrieval. Following this, Multicoin Capital increased its investment in the project on September 29, 2026, citing the network's potential as infrastructure for AI inference needs.
The company reported $17 million in revenue for 2025 and matched that figure in the first half of 2026. Grass projects total revenue of $65–75 million for 2026 from training data sales alone, excluding potential earnings from the new API.
The native GRASS token on the Solana blockchain roughly doubled in price following the product launch and the investment news. While the market has responded to the strategic pivot, the commercial performance of the Contents API remains to be seen.
