Users of Google Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 8a smartphones report critical issues with device unlocking following the installation of the September software update. The problem prevents users from accessing their devices through standard authentication methods.

According to community reports, the system incorrectly processes PIN codes, rejecting them after only a single digit is entered. For pattern-based unlocking, the system automatically resets the pattern after the user connects only two dots, making it impossible to complete the sequence.

The only identified workaround for this issue is a factory reset of the device. However, this action results in the complete loss of all local data, including photos and files that have not been backed up to cloud services.

As of September 29, Google has not officially acknowledged the lock screen bug. No software patch or fix has been released by the company to address the reported malfunctions on the affected smartphone models.
