Google has unveiled the Googlebook laptop lineup, a new series of lightweight devices running ChromeOS and Android apps. The laptops feature processors from Intel or Qualcomm with neural processing units capable of over 45 trillion operations per second for local AI tasks.

The devices include 16 to 32 gigabytes of memory, 2.8K OLED displays, and haptic glass keypads. Battery life is rated for up to 14 hours of video playback or 16 hours of web browsing. Pricing for the new models starts at $899.

Key features include the Gemini AI assistant, accessible via dedicated keyboard keys or the Magic Pointer gesture. The Rambler tool converts spoken audio into structured text, while the Google Antigravity platform allows users to create custom desktop widgets.

The laptops emphasize mobile-to-desktop connectivity. The Continue On feature allows users to resume Android app sessions on the laptop, and the Files app displays mobile files as local content. Cast My Apps enables streaming phone apps directly to the desktop.

Hardware partners for the launch include Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, and Lenovo. Pre-orders are currently open via the Google Store and major retailers. Shipments will begin on Oct. 4 in the United States and Oct. 5 in several international markets.
