Users of the Google Gboard keyboard have reported a recurring technical issue where the Shift key fails to function, preventing the manual input of uppercase letters. The problem was highlighted in a report by Android Authority on October 9.

The malfunction primarily affects Google Pixel and Xiaomi smartphones, though reports suggest that devices from other manufacturers may also be impacted. The issue prevents the keyboard from toggling between lowercase and uppercase modes when the Shift key is pressed.

To temporarily resolve the bug, users can force stop the Gboard application, clear its cache, restart their devices, or switch keyboard layouts. However, these fixes are not permanent, as the problem often recurs within a few hours or a couple of days.
