Google, Nevoya, and the Center for Green Market Activation are launching a new electric freight route between Houston and Dallas. The project involves the deployment of 25 electric semi trucks, which will be operated by Nevoya. Greenlane Infrastructure is responsible for constructing the necessary charging facilities to support the fleet.
This initiative is part of a broader plan to field a total of 63 class 8 battery-powered trucks in Texas. Google anticipates that the full fleet will cover approximately 11 million miles annually, resulting in a reduction of 92 000 metric tons of CO2 emissions. The company intends to use the project to aggregate environmental attribute certificates for logistics emissions offsetting.
The Houston-Dallas corridor already hosts electric freight operations. In January, Nevoya introduced 40 Freightliner eCascadia trucks as part of an earlier procurement program. To support these vehicles, Greenlane announced plans in May for charging sites in both cities, featuring six to eight pull-through lanes each, with support for CCS and MCS standards.
