Harsha Konduri, Google's General Manager for AI in the Asia-Pacific and Japan region, stated that AI adoption across Asia is accelerating faster than previously estimated. According to his observations, the region has achieved in two years a level of integration that took cloud computing over a decade to reach.

Konduri noted that Asia is currently one of the fastest-growing markets for Google Cloud. Revenue contributions from AI initiatives in the region have already reached the second-highest position globally, with some specific business segments nearing the performance levels seen in North America.

Despite the rapid growth, Asian enterprises are adopting a cautious approach to AI implementation. Partners such as Samsung Electronics, Sompo Holdings, and Tata Steel prioritize security to protect their long-standing reputations from potential risks associated with new technologies.

Looking ahead, the executive expects companies to place greater emphasis on managing AI-related costs. Konduri suggested that businesses do not need to apply high-cost, top-tier models to every task, as only a small fraction of operations actually require such advanced capabilities.
