Google has officially opened pre-orders for its new Googlebook laptop platform, starting September 21 at 9:00 AM in the United States. The initial lineup features devices from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, and Lenovo, with shipments expected to begin this fall.

Unlike the budget-focused Chromebooks, Googlebook is positioned as a premium platform designed to compete with MacBook and Copilot Plus PCs. The architecture integrates Android technology with ChromeOS capabilities, facilitating seamless file access and app usage between laptops and Android smartphones.

The platform is built around Gemini AI, featuring tools like Magic Pointer for screen analysis and Create My Widget for generating personalized interface components via natural language. Hardware devices will feature a signature Glowbar light strip for brand identification.

Googlebook supports both Arm and x86 architectures, with hardware partnerships confirmed for Intel, Qualcomm, and MediaTek. Specifically, MediaTek’s Dimensity CX series processors will power devices within the new ecosystem, alongside future offerings from Intel and Qualcomm.
