Goldman Sachs is changing the professional trajectory of new hires by tasking them with the supervision of AI agents from their first day. Kevin Sneader, head of the bank’s Asia Pacific business, announced this shift at the Milken Institute Asia Summit in Singapore on October 8, 2026.

The bank began integrating agentic AI in 2025 by deploying Devin, a coding agent from Cognition, across its technology division of 12 000 engineers. This initiative resulted in productivity gains exceeding 20% in software engineering tasks.

Goldman Sachs has since expanded the use of AI, implementing Anthropic’s Claude for core business functions such as trade accounting, compliance, and client onboarding. These efforts are part of the internal OneGS 3.0 program, which aims to restructure operations around hybrid teams of humans and AI.

Chief Information Officer Marco Argenti noted that the strategy requires junior employees to focus on task delegation and system supervision. This shift potentially reduces the necessity for traditional middle management roles, as junior staff take on responsibilities previously reserved for more senior personnel.
