Global gold-backed ETFs have recorded 11 consecutive weeks of positive inflows. The latest weekly data shows an addition of 27.1 tonnes of physical gold, valued at approximately $3.9 billion.

Total global holdings in these funds have reached a record high of 4,189 tonnes. This volume is comparable to the combined official gold reserves held by Germany and Italy.

Assets under management across the sector have climbed to $615 billion. This growth is attributed to both new capital inflows and the appreciation of gold prices.

August saw a significant surge with $18 billion in inflows, marking the second-largest monthly increase on record. North American and European markets remain the primary drivers of demand.

Major funds such as SPDR Gold Shares and iShares Physical Gold ETC have led the market activity. Analysts note that while current trends are strong, the liquid nature of ETFs could lead to rapid reversals.
