Estonian startup Golbriak Space has secured €4 million in a seed funding round to scale the mass production of its laser communication terminals. The investment was co-led by Join Capital and PhotonVentures, with participation from the Takeoff accelerator.
The company, founded by Nicola Garzaniti and Simone Briatore, develops optical link terminals for satellites and aircraft. Its product lines include ERMESAI+ for space applications and ARES for aviation, currently supporting data rates starting at 2.5 gigabits per second.
Golbriak Space designs its own optics, electronics, and software, allowing for configuration across various industry standards. The firm plans to introduce a 10 Gbps system by 2027 and currently offers an optical downlink service priced from €18 per minute.
Previously, the startup raised $130,000, including funding from Plug and Play Turin. The new capital will be directed toward accelerating industrialization to meet demand for large-scale satellite network deployments.
