Google is developing a new feature for the Gmail mobile application that integrates Gemini AI to assist users with email responses. According to an APK teardown of version 2026.09.28, the company has added specific code snippets related to this functionality within the app.
Once implemented, users will likely see a dedicated Gemini button in their inbox. Clicking this button allows the AI to analyze incoming messages and suggest draft replies. The interface is expected to include a specific option for drafting responses based on the content of the emails.
The system is designed to maintain human oversight, as some emails will require manual confirmation before being sent. If the AI is uncertain about how to proceed, it will prompt the user for assistance by displaying a status message indicating that input is required.
Users will be able to interact with the AI by clicking a provide input button to supply necessary details for completing tasks. This mechanism ensures that the assistant has sufficient information to generate accurate replies while keeping the user in control of the final output.
