On October 4, 2026, analytics firm Glassnode reported that the largest cluster of leveraged Bitcoin short positions is located near the $90,000 price level. At the time of the report, Bitcoin was trading between $85,000 and $86,000.

Glassnode estimates that cumulative liquidations near this threshold could reach hundreds of millions of dollars across various trading platforms. If the price reaches this zone, forced closures of short positions could trigger significant buying pressure, potentially increasing market volatility.

The firm also identified smaller liquidation clusters near $83,000 and $75,000, which formed over the previous two months. Movement toward these levels could also accelerate directional market shifts.

Earlier this year, a significant band of short positions between $82,000 and $86,000 was largely cleared during rallies in August and September. A notable liquidation event occurred on August 19, contributing to increased market activity.

Glassnode notes that these liquidation heatmaps are based on estimated leveraged exposure on major centralized exchanges. The data excludes certain perpetual futures platforms, meaning actual positioning may vary.
