The German Savings Banks Association (DSGV) has initiated a phased rollout of cryptocurrency trading services for retail customers. The service is currently available through existing banking applications at participating institutions, with plans to add 30 to 40 new locations per month.
DekaBank serves as the service provider, while custody solutions are managed in partnership with the stock exchange operator Börse Stuttgart. Users can trade Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana, and Polygon. Each transaction incurs a fee of €0.99, and no separate brokerage account is required.
The association expects a significant portion of interested savings banks to join the initiative by the first half of 2027. Individual institutions decide their own launch schedules. The organization classifies crypto as highly speculative and will issue direct warnings to users regarding volatility and the risk of total loss.
