Gen Digital, the parent company of Norton 360, has initiated discussions regarding a potential acquisition of GoDaddy. The proposed deal values the web domain provider at more than $12 billion. Following the announcement, GoDaddy shares rose above $109 per share.
The negotiations are currently in the preliminary stages, and no final agreement has been reached between the two parties. Gen Digital, which holds a market capitalization of approximately $15.7 billion, aims to expand its presence in the internet services sector through this potential merger.
GoDaddy currently manages around 81 million web domains and provides services to over 20 million small businesses and individual clients. The company has recently faced investor scrutiny regarding its long-term growth prospects amid shifts in the digital services market and the integration of artificial intelligence.
In July 2026, GoDaddy adjusted its revenue outlook due to slower customer acquisition and a deceleration in AI adoption. The company is currently testing its AI-powered Airo products to determine if they can effectively increase average customer spending as the cost of website creation continues to decline.
