A fraudulent application mimicking WhatsApp has been identified on the Google Play store. The malicious software, published by an entity named Agment Assets sallu, has already surpassed 500,000 downloads since its appearance on the platform last month.

The fake app replicates the visual design, screenshots, and descriptive text of the legitimate messenger. It was even observed appearing in sponsored search results, occasionally ranking above the official application, which currently holds over 10 billion downloads.

The app's presence went largely unnoticed due to its inclusion in the Google Play Early Access program. This status disables public reviews, preventing users from identifying the software as a counterfeit. The app remained available in the store at the time of reporting.
