Fortell, a startup focused on AI-powered hearing aids, has secured $163 million in funding. The investment round included participation from Founders Fund, Thrive Capital, and Antonio Gracias, CEO of Valor Equity Partners.

The company spent six years developing its technology. Founder Matthew de Jonge aims to address limitations in existing hearing aid devices, which typically amplify all surrounding sounds simultaneously.

Fortell’s technology uses artificial intelligence to process audio in real time. The system is designed to identify and prioritize important sounds while reducing background noise, rather than simply increasing the volume of all audio inputs.
