A new report from Forrester Research, titled Predictions 2027: Banking and Investing, highlights a shift from digital banking to intelligent finance. The study is based on data from 915 respondents across the U.S., U.K., and Canada.
Forrester predicts that while one-third of banks will announce AI transformation programs in 2027, only 5% are expected to succeed. The report suggests that many institutions will fail to scale due to a reliance on legacy processes and infrastructure.
The financial sector is expected to see a 50% increase in mergers and acquisitions related to AI banking technology in 2027. Firms are prioritizing the acquisition of proprietary data assets, governance capabilities, and AI-native orchestration.
The report also indicates that 40% of banks plan to launch AI assistants next year. Experts from Dell Technologies emphasize that the primary competitive advantage for these institutions will be the integration of proprietary knowledge into their AI systems.
