Ford is introducing the Fathom, an all-electric midsize pickup truck built on a new "Universal" EV platform. This platform utilizes a cost-cutting, labor-saving manufacturing process that differs from traditional assembly lines. The Fathom is the first of five planned EVs based on this architecture.
The vehicle will be priced under $30,000, with a starting price of $29,945 including a $1,595 delivery fee. Ford aims to sell 100,000 units in the first year of production, with deliveries beginning next year. The company plans to officially reveal the truck by the end of the year.
Ford is also developing an Extended Range EV (EREV) version of the F-150 Lightning. This model will feature an onboard gas engine as a range extender to enable travel of more than 700 miles. It will maintain the ability to provide exportable electricity, a feature of the original Lightning which saw production halt in December 2025.
