The new Ultra96 HDMI 2.2 cables have officially entered the retail market. Silkland has opened orders for its H96 series, which supports a bandwidth of up to 96 Gbps. The company began accepting customer orders for these cables on September 14.

ELECOM also announced its own line of Ultra96 cables on September 8, positioning them as the first certified products of this category in Japan. The company expects to begin shipping these units to customers in mid-November.

The HDMI 2.2 specification was finalized in June 2025. It supports uncompressed 8K resolution at 60 Hz or 4K at 240 Hz with 10-bit and 12-bit color depth. This standard surpasses the 80 Gbps bandwidth limit of DisplayPort 2.1.

Despite the availability of the cables, no hardware currently utilizes the 96 Gbps bandwidth. Industry experts do not anticipate the release of compatible GPUs, TVs, or monitors until at least 2027. Future AMD RDNA 5 GPUs are expected to reach 64 or 80 Gbps.
