Fireblocks has officially denied reports suggesting that Visa is in advanced negotiations to acquire the crypto custody and infrastructure firm. A company spokesperson stated that the rumors regarding a potential deal are not true at this time.
The speculation originated from a report by Axios, which cited multiple sources claiming that Visa was in late-stage talks to purchase Fireblocks for approximately $2.5 billion. Visa declined to provide a comment on these claims, citing a policy against addressing market rumors.
The reported acquisition price of $2.5 billion would be significantly lower than the company's last publicly disclosed valuation. In January 2022, Fireblocks raised $550 million in a Series E funding round, which pushed its valuation to over $8 billion.
Market data provider Traxcn continued to list the valuation of Fireblocks at $8 billion as recently as December 11, 2025. The company maintains that the current reports of a takeover by the payments giant are inaccurate.
