A hardware enthusiast known as Blighted Agent purchased a GeForce RTX 3090 Founders Edition via Facebook Marketplace for $50. The seller had warned that the GPU and memory chips might be missing, but the reality proved to be far more deceptive.
Upon disassembling the device, the buyer discovered that the original Nvidia PCB was completely absent. Instead, the housing contained a heavily modified and cut-down Gigabyte Radeon R9 280 board with 3 GB of memory. The board had been physically trimmed to fit the RTX 3090 chassis, and its video outputs were removed.
The buyer, who intended to use the housing for a custom GeForce RTX 3080 project, confirmed the item was a fake designed to mimic the appearance of a high-end card. He does not plan to restore the unit and advises others to verify hardware before purchase and use secure payment methods.
