The crypto-focused super PAC Fairshake has announced plans to allocate $30 million to oppose the congressional campaign of former Democratic Senator Sherrod Brown. This move follows the recent failure of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act in the Senate.
The Senate rejected the bill with a 49-50 vote, falling short of the 60 votes required to advance. The legislation aimed to establish federal rules for crypto markets and split oversight between the SEC and the CFTC. All Democrats and three Republicans voted against the motion, while Senator Thom Tillis changed his vote to 'no' for procedural reasons.
Fairshake, which is backed by Coinbase, Ripple, and Andreessen Horowitz, previously spent approximately $40 million in the 2024 election cycle to support Bernie Moreno against Brown. The organization reported holding $108 million in funds as of the end of August 2025.
The advocacy group Stand With Crypto also signaled its intention to track lawmakers' votes on the bill in its scorecards ahead of the November 3 midterm elections. Fairshake continues to focus its advertising on broad voter issues rather than specific crypto policy to influence electoral outcomes.
