Experian has launched the Experian Cashflow Data Bureau, a new credit reporting agency operating under the Fair Credit Reporting Act. The bureau aims to provide financial institutions with a comprehensive view of consumer financial health by integrating banking transaction data into existing underwriting processes.
The platform allows consumers to grant permission for access to their bank accounts during credit applications. The bureau then organizes and aggregates this information into reports. Additionally, Experian provides custom analytics and consulting services to help lenders incorporate these cash flow insights into their current strategies.
According to Experian, combining cash flow insights with traditional credit data can improve predictive performance by up to 40%. The company also notes that lenders may increase loan approvals by as much as 25% without changing their risk tolerance levels.
This initiative addresses limitations in conventional underwriting, which often relies on static metrics like credit scores and debt history. By analyzing actual income and spending patterns from bank accounts, payroll deposits, and digital wallets, lenders can better assess the financial capacity of applicants with limited credit files.
