Ethena Labs, the developer of the synthetic dollar protocol USDe, announced the completion of a SOC 2 Type II audit. The company reported receiving a clean opinion with zero exceptions, confirming that its security and availability controls functioned as intended over an extended period.
The SOC 2 Type II framework evaluates organizational processes, including access controls, incident response, and change management. Unlike Type I audits, which assess design at a specific moment, Type II tests the effectiveness of these controls over several months or a year.
As of July 2026, the supply of USDe reached approximately $4.46 billion, with a backing ratio exceeding 100%. The protocol maintains its peg through delta-neutral hedging strategies using staked ETH and BTC collateral, while assets are held off-exchange.
On September 1, 2026, Ethena launched the beta version of Ethena Pay, a self-custodial application for yield and cashback rewards. The company has established partnerships with entities such as Coinbase and Janus Henderson to integrate DeFi yields with traditional finance.
While SOC 2 compliance is standard for firms working with regulated financial institutions, independent confirmation of Ethena's audit result has not yet appeared in official channels or media as of September 14, 2026. It remains unclear if the full report will be public.
