Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt reportedly holds approximately 1% of the AI startup Anthropic. This stake stems from his participation in the company's Series A funding round in 2021, where he invested tens of millions of dollars.
Data from PitchBook indicates that Anthropic was valued at $461 million during that initial investment round. For comparison, co-founder and CEO Dario Amodei currently owns about 2% of the enterprise.
Market analysts anticipate that Anthropic may pursue an initial public offering before the end of the year. Some projections suggest the company could reach a valuation of as much as $2 trillion.
Should the company achieve this valuation, Schmidt's stake could increase his personal net worth by up to $20 billion. Bloomberg currently estimates his total fortune at $57.5 billion.
Since leaving his role at Google in 2011, Schmidt has maintained an active investment portfolio. He manages capital through entities such as Tomorrow Ventures, Innovation Endeavors Management, and his family office, Hillspire.
Beyond his position in Anthropic, Schmidt has directed investments toward other artificial intelligence companies. His portfolio includes stakes in Mistral, General Intuition, and Reflection AI.
