Epic Games is transitioning the development of its upcoming Disney-themed extraction shooter to an AI-first production model. Under this new directive, artificial intelligence tools will generate game content, while human staff will be responsible for reviewing, refining, and approving the output.

The project is a central component of the partnership established in 2024, when Disney made an equity investment of $1.5 billion in Epic Games. The collaboration aims to integrate various franchises, including Pixar, Marvel, and Star Wars, into the gaming ecosystem.

The game has faced multiple delays following internal reviews that questioned the originality of its gameplay and mechanics. While the project was previously targeted for a March release and later for November 2026, a new launch date has not yet been determined.

Epic Games has previously utilized AI for tasks such as creating concept art for Fortnite, prototyping dialogue, and providing coding support. This shift marks a significant change, as AI is now intended to serve as the primary creator for a major flagship product.
