The Elar Group has digitized over 241,000 pages of archival documents for the Sevastopol City Archive. This latest project continues a multi-year partnership that has resulted in the digitization of more than 1.7 million pages in total.
The digital copies have been integrated into the archive's automated information system. This transition allows staff to work with digital records rather than physical originals, which helps preserve the documents and speeds up the processing of requests from citizens and organizations.
Elar deployed a dedicated digitization site using industrial planetary scanners. This Russian-made equipment is designed to handle documents ranging from A6 to A2 formats, including bound files that cannot be fully opened, while accommodating various paper densities.
The project included a multi-stage quality control process. Each digital image underwent automated parameter verification, sequential visual inspection, and selective expert review to ensure the accuracy and completeness of the digital archive.
Over the past six years, Elar has digitized over 1.7 million pages of permanent storage records for the Sevastopol archive. In 2024, the company processed more than 260,000 pages, followed by over 226,000 pages in 2025.
