Lyon-based accounting firm Dougs has secured €50 million in funding from Expedition Growth Capital. The company, which operated without external investment for eight years since its 2015 founding, previously received €25 million from the same investor in July 2023. The new capital is intended to increase pressure on competitors and scale AI-driven accounting operations.
Dougs currently serves over 50,000 small businesses and reports an annual recurring revenue exceeding €50 million. By September 30, 2026, the company reached a turnover of €52.2 million, ranking as the 31st-largest chartered accounting firm in France. The firm aims to become the largest in the country within three years.
The company employs over 836 staff members, including more than 120 engineers, 200 accountants, and 200 lawyers. Dougs reports gross margins exceeding 80%, significantly higher than the industry average of under 50%. Each employee manages approximately 600 financial statements annually, compared to 40 at traditional firms.
Dougs is developing AI agents to automate the preparation of financial statements, which are then reviewed and signed by certified accountants. The company has already produced around 50 statements without human assistance. It plans to launch a master franchise network of 300 people in early 2027 to reach business owners directly.
