Doubao is developing a new personal assistant product, building on its existing mobile agent strategy. The internal project, previously codenamed Spell, began testing in April. The initiative was led by the Doubao mobile assistant team but remained unreleased due to hardware launch priorities.

The company is now accelerating the release of its personal agent capabilities following global interest in similar tools like Muse and Instinct. The new product will integrate the original Spell project with the Doubao conversational AI team, with a public launch expected in the near future.

The project represents an expansion of Doubao's mobile agent technology into a standalone application. The company previously debuted a technical preview of its mobile assistant in December 2025 on a ZTE-manufactured Nubia M153 prototype, followed by a consumer version on the Nubia NaviX Ultra in September 2026.
