DoorDash has launched a waitlist for a new AI ordering agent integrated directly into Apple Messages. The tool allows US iPhone users to manage food orders, receive personalized suggestions based on order history, and complete checkouts without launching the main DoorDash application.

The feature was announced on September 30, 2026, during the Dash Forward event. While currently exclusive to iOS users in the US, the company has confirmed plans to extend support to Android devices in the future.

The AI agent processes natural language requests, such as ordering a standard meal to a specific location, and can display menu items with images within the chat interface. DoorDash notes that the system is not error-free and recommends that users verify their carts before finalizing payments.

This release follows the June 2026 introduction of Ask DoorDash, an in-app chatbot for ordering recommendations. Co-founder Andy Fang stated that the company is focusing on developing agentic tools to remain competitive in the current AI landscape.

Additionally, DoorDash introduced an MCP connector for corporate clients, enabling team ordering via platforms like Slack. Early partners for this integration include Vercel and SpaceXAI. Businesses can sign up for access through the company's developer portal.
